Shan Shen Bu for TikTok

TikTok is where the shan shen bu trend lives, and the format is simple: a vertical clip, one fixed camera, four beats and a deadpan ending. The platform supplies the sound; the clip supplies the movement.

This page covers the posting details that matter: framing, sound, captions and the disclosure that keeps an AI clip honest.

Images on this page are AI-generated illustrations, not records of a real event.

Shoot vertical, not cropped

9:16 is the native format. A landscape clip cropped to vertical loses the feet, which is where the routine reads.

Add the sound in the app

Renders are silent on purpose. Pick a trending sound inside TikTok so the audio is licensed by the platform, not embedded by us.

Disclose AI

Use TikTok’s AI-generated label and say so in the caption. It protects trust and follows platform rules.

How it works

  1. 1

    Generate a 9:16 clip

Keep the default aspect ratio. Leave a little headroom and keep the feet in frame.

  2. 2

    Download the MP4

The file has no watermark. Download it from the result panel or from My videos.

  3. 3

    Upload and add a sound

Open TikTok, upload the clip, then add a sound from the platform’s library. Trim the clip to the beat if needed.

  4. 4

    Write a short caption

One line of setup, the trend name and the AI disclosure. Three hashtags are enough.

Start from a tested prompt

Each prompt is complete: subject, scene, camera and what must not change. Copy it or open the studio with it pre-filled.

A 9:16 still of a performer finishing the routine with a look at the camera, warm room light

Blue practice hall

The original studio look: four beats, one fixed camera, deadpan face.

Prompt (English)

Bright blue mirrored dance studio with a wooden floor and a ballet barre along one wall. The subject performs the shan shen bu (闪身步) flash-step routine in four clear beats: first a sudden sideways dodge, stepping the feet wide apart and dropping low before springing back to centre; second a langzi kick, lifting one knee and kicking the foot out to the side while the opposite arm swings across; third a bear shake, both arms flinging up and outward while the shoulders and whole body shake; fourth a deadpan head sway that ends with a direct look into the camera. If a reference photo is attached, keep the exact face, hair, body, outfit and background; do not add a second person. Fixed phone camera at chest height, one continuous take, vertical 9:16, no text, no watermark.

Office escape

Dodge out of work in an open-plan corridor, then finish the routine.

Prompt (English)

A plain open-plan office corridor with desks, monitors and a colleague walking past in the background. The subject performs the shan shen bu routine in four beats: a sideways flash step, a knee-lift side kick with an arm swing, a full-body shake with both arms up, then a deadpan head sway and a look into the camera. If a reference photo is attached, keep the exact face, hair, body and outfit. Fixed phone camera at chest height, one continuous take, vertical 9:16, no text, no watermark.

Pet living room

A cat or dog does a playful version on its hind legs at home.

Prompt (English)

A cosy living room with a sofa, a rug and warm afternoon window light. The cat or dog from the reference photo stands on its hind legs and does a playful four-beat shan shen bu: a quick side-step, a little kick, a full-body shake of the fur, then a head sway to the camera. Keep the animal's exact breed, fur colour and markings; do not turn it into a person and do not add a second animal. Fixed low camera, one continuous take, vertical 9:16, no text, no watermark.

What makes a shan shen bu clip perform

The first second has to show the setup: a corridor, a living room or a studio. The side-step has to be wide enough to read on a phone. The ending has to hold for a beat so the deadpan look lands. A clip that starts mid-dance has no joke.

Keep the caption short and specific. “When the meeting could have been an email” works because it gives the viewer the situation before the dodge. A vague caption makes the clip look like a random dance.

Do not promise a trend will go viral. The format gives you a recognisable shape; the audience decides the rest.

Sound, captions and edits

A silent render gives you freedom: use the trending sound, a drum loop or a deadpan voiceover. If you use a platform sound, the licence is handled by TikTok. If you add music from elsewhere, check the rights.

Captions should not cover the feet or the face. Place them in the upper third or leave a clean band at the bottom. Keep the clip at 10 seconds unless the routine needs 15; a tighter cut is easier to rewatch.

Disclosure and rights

Label the video as AI-generated in TikTok’s posting flow and mention it in the caption. Do not present the clip as real footage of a real event. If a person appears, you need their permission; if a workplace appears, check the background.

The routine is a folk-dance form; the original teaching video, its audio and the teachers’ likeness are separate. This site does not copy them.

Questions people ask

Does the site add music?

No. Clips are silent so they never carry the original recording. Add a sound in TikTok.

Is 9:16 the best format?

For TikTok, yes. 16:9 and 1:1 are available for other platforms at the same credit price.

Can I remove the AI label?

Do not. Platform rules and honesty both require disclosure. The label also protects you if the clip is shared out of context.

How long should the clip be?

10 seconds is the tightest cut that fits four beats. 15 seconds gives the routine more room but is harder to keep crisp.

Can I post the same clip on Reels and Shorts?

Yes. Export the vertical MP4 once and upload it to each platform with its own sound.

Will TikTok suppress AI content?

Platforms label and sometimes down-rank unlabeled AI content. Labeled, original, useful clips are the safer long-term strategy.
